Gary Hendrickse has specialised in providing live music for numerous corporate events, weddings, birthdays, farewell celebrations, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, garden parties, New Year’s Eve parties and presentation dinners.

For five years, Gary was resident pianist at the Hohenhort Hotel, Constantia. He performs as a solo pianist, or with any number of combinations, including with a vocalist. Gary has been on the local jazz scene since 1963, and began his career playing with dance bands. He joined the Harry Peacock Jazz Quartet in 1964 and has led his own jazz groups since 1966. Over his long career, Gary has performed with Jimmy Adams, Duke and Ezra Ngcukana, Harold Jefta, Darryl Walters, George Cossette, Jimmy Dludlu, Cliffie Moses, Raymond Johnson, Benedict Demaar, Gary Kriel, Basil Moses, Charles Lazar, Eddie Jooste, Marino Tricaro, Ian Alexander, Morris Gawronsky, Willie can Bloemenstein, Monty Weber and Nico Carstens.

Gary studied at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, under Hal Grossman. He also graduated from UCT’s College of Music, with a degree in Classic Piano.
