Los Gitanos, meaning “the gypsies”, plays music from many lands including Mexico, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Russia, South America, Israel, Bolivia, Cuba and Africa.
The band also performs as Mariachis – roaming musicians without amplification, walking and serenading the audiences.
They play happy, lively, foot-tapping music: pleasant and extremely entertaining. They have the superb ability to read the audience and play according the situation and setting, either taking centre stage as the feature act or allowing the audience to have a conversation without finding the music disturbing.
The group can perform as a duo with guitar/mandolin and saxophone; as a trio with guitar/mandolin, saxophone and light percussion with vocals; or as a quartet, including the Charango – a stringed instrument from Bolivia.
