The Cape Town Tango Ensemble was started by Stanislav Anguelov in 1996 and specialises in performing Argentinean Tango, from the traditional 20th century style up to the Tango “Nuevo”.

Featuring Stanislav (accordion), Jacek Domagala (violin), Albert Combrink (piano) and Charles Lazar (double bass), their repertoire consists of original scores of Astor Piazzolla for his Quinteto – which often leads to including James Grace (guitar) – and the scores of Horacio Salgan, Angelo Burli, Julian Plaza, Roberto Pansera as well as their own arrangements of Music by Piazzolla, Gardel, Troilo, Greco, Villoldo and others.

Lately they have added their own compositions by Stanislav, Charles and recently by Albert. Their locally- and internationally-acclaimed album, ‘El Tango en Africa’, explores the fusion between African rhythms and Tango Nuevo.
